ers web certificate import instructions

The following instructions describe how to install the Department of Treasury Root Certificate and the NASA Operational Certificate Authority certificate in your internet browser.  When you install the certificates, you are trusting that other certificates signed by these certificates are “trusted” as well.  NASA ASRS web certificates are signed by the “NASA Operational Certificate Authority”.

 

WINDOWS

 

To avoid certificate warnings please download and install root_sia.p7b or first follow the instructions to obtain the root certificate by clicking here.

  1. Click on “Open” to open the certificate file “root_sia.p7b”.

  2. Expand the file tree on the left hand side to reveal a set of certificates.  Double-click on the certificate issued to “US Treasury Root CA” with the expiration date “8/5/2026” as shown below.  This should open a pop-up window showing details of the certificate.

  3. Click on the “Install Certificate …” button.  This should launch a wizard that leads you through the installation.  Proceed through the wizard by clicking on the “Next” buttons.  Finish the installation by clicking on the “Finish” button.

  4. Click on the “OK” button on the window that indicates the installation was successful.

  5. You should now be back on the window that displays a number of certificates.  Find the one issued to “NASA Operational CA” with the expiration date of “3/15/2017” and double-click on it.  Go through the same process as in steps 6) and 7) to install the certificate.

  6. You may now close the window that lists the certificates and go to the NASA ASRS website.  You should not receive any warnings about the site being invalid or untrusted.
